innovation Engine Lab (iEL)

iEL is the think tank of MDtRI. Each center mentioned below is an independent entity and adheres to its objectives. iEL aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, drive mathematical innovation, and translate scientific research findings into tangible technologies to improve global health outcomes, particularly considering emerging challenges in infectious diseases, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases taking into account heterogeneity and environmental factors

Center for Immunity and Disease Resistance

Objective 1: Investigate the mechanisms underlying a disease, and microbial resistance to antibiotics, antivirals, and other therapeutics.

Objective 2: Develop predictive models to anticipate the emergence and spread of drug-resistant mechanisms, and pathogens.

Objective 3: Investigate alternative approaches to combat drug resistance, such as combination therapies or novel drug targets.

Center for Advanced Diagnostics

Objective 1: Develop innovative diagnostic tools and techniques for rapid and accurate detection of infectious diseases, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases.

Objective 2: Validate and optimize diagnostic assays through rigorous testing and clinical studies.

Objective 3: Implement point-of-care diagnostic solutions for resource-limited settings, improving access to healthcare globally.

Center for Therapeutic Innovation

Objective 1: Identify novel targets for drug discovery through computational modeling, drug repurposing, and bioinformatics analyses.

Objective 2: Facilitate preclinical and clinical evaluation of promising therapeutics for infectious diseases, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases.

Objective 3: Optimize treatment regimens and dosage strategies to enhance efficacy and minimize resistance development.

Center for Climatic

Health

Objective 1: Investigate the impact of climate change on disease transmission dynamics and vector ecology.

Objective 2: Develop predictive models to assess the vulnerability of populations to climate-sensitive diseases.

Objective 3: Collaborate with climate scientists and policymakers to develop adaptation strategies and mitigate health risks associated with changing climates.
